Here at Myreen Young, we are advocates of having a good skincare routine; this includes using a cleanser, as this is one of the best ways to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy. In this blog, we’re going to look at the importance of cleansers, delve into the different types you can get as well as guiding you to the perfect product for your skin type.
Cleansing may be the most important step in a skincare routine, as cleansing helps to remove dirt and bacteria, in turn leaving your skin looking bright, healthy and glowing. Most think that by using face wipes or by splashing your face with water, you’ll leave your skin clean, however, think about what the face is exposed to each day. From makeup to sweat, cleansing has the ability to leave our pores clean and remove any excess oil, dirt and skin cells from the top layer.
If cleansing isn’t part of your skincare routine, it’s time to introduce it! By not cleaning our faces properly, pollution and dirt can accumulate on the surface. This then could lead your skin to be dehydrated, increase the chances of ageing skin and lead to breakouts.
Which Cleanser Should I get?
We here at Myreen Young are promoters of using natural and organic skincare products, not only do they help the environment, but they help to avoid putting anything harmful onto our skin. Commonly we absorb around 60% of what we put on our skin, so using natural organic body care products are the perfect way to ensure we don’t absorb any toxins.
With a variety of different types of cleansers in the market, it’s hard to decide which cleanser is a perfect match for you. Firstly, it’s essential to choose a cleanser which is a good match with your skin type, unsure of your skin type? We’ve got a handy guide to each here.
Commonly there are three different types of cleansers; cream, oil and gel. Here is a little more info about each type and which option is the perfect match for your skin type.

How Often Should I Cleanse?
Don’t overdo the cleansing as you don’t want to wash away the essential oils that our skin needs to keep it in good condition. Twice a day is an ideal way to keep skin clean and hydrated, once in the morning and once in the evening.
What Is A Double Cleanse?
Once a week it’s a good idea to give your skin a double cleanse, double cleansing your skin allows you to clean more in-depth into your pores to remove any impurities. Firstly, you’d use an initial cleanser to break down any sebum, makeup or sweat that remains on your skin, the perfect product to do so would be our Organic Deep Cleansing Lotion. Once you have no trace of makeup or dirt on your cotton pad, the next step would be to use a more nourishing cleanser to dive deeper into the pores; our Organic Nourishing Cleanser would be the perfect match to follow. Double cleansing isn’t essential, but it can be helpful when you have troubled skin.
We hope this blog has explained more about the importance of cleansers and helped you to understand the different types that are on offer. Organic and natural skin care products are the best type to opt for, as they’re gentler on our skin. If you’re looking for a vegan-friendly cleanser or a hydrating face peel, we’ve got a vast range of products which cater to all skin types!
